Frequently Asked Questions

Junior Suite Garden Ocean Front FAQs

What does the Junior Suite Garden Ocean Front look out on?
This suite faces the water, with ocean front views over Akumal Bay from its furnished balcony or patio. The resort sits directly on the bay, with almost a mile of white sandy beach and shore snorkeling just steps from the guest rooms. Because every junior suite at Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort is oceanfront and spread across four beachfront buildings, you are never far from the sea.
Does the suite have a private hot tub, and how is the outdoor space used?
Yes. The suite has a private outdoor hot tub and a furnished balcony or patio, so you can sit out over the bay in the morning or soak under the stars in the evening. Booking sites note that balconies, patios and terraces, including those with private hot tubs, may not suit very young children, so parents should keep this in mind.
What is the bathroom like?
The private bathroom has a shower and is stocked with designer toiletries, including shampoo and soap. You will also find bathrobes, slippers, a hair dryer, towels and toilet paper. The suite also offers wheelchair accessibility, and the flooring throughout is tile.
What is included with this room?
Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort is all-inclusive, so on-site food and beverages are covered in the room rate. In the suite you also get a free stocked minibar, 24-hour room service, free Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping with turndown service, and a 65-inch TV with cable channels. Included activities noted for the resort are paddleboarding, snorkeling with equipment provided, beach volleyball, yoga, aqua stretching and the Kids' Club.
Is this suite a good choice for couples or families?
It suits both. The resort is family-friendly and welcomes children of all ages. It has a Kids' Club for ages 4 to 12 and four pools, including a children's pool. Couples will like the king bed, the private hot tub and the separate living area. The adults-only rule applies only to the resort's Penthouse Suite category, not to this suite or the resort as a whole.
How close is the suite to the beach, pools and restaurants?
The resort is directly on Akumal Bay, and its 310 oceanfront junior suites sit in four beachfront buildings. Three of the four pools are quieter ones near the waterfront buildings, and the fourth is a central pool with jet tubs. For food there is the Akumal Buffet, four à la carte restaurants, the Oceanfront Sushi Bar, and the Pelícanos Snack Bar, which serves round the clock. The walking distance from your suite depends on which building you are in.
Will the suite be noisy in the evening?
Evening entertainment is fairly contained. A live band plays at the Lobby Bar from 20:00 to 22:30, and the Disco Bar runs from 21:00 to 02:00. The pools close at 20:00, and three of them are quieter ones near the waterfront buildings. If you prefer a calmer setting, ask the resort about its quietest buildings when you book.
Can I snorkel with turtles from the resort?
Akumal means "Place of Turtles," and the bay is protected by two sections of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Turtle snorkeling in the protected zone is now only allowed with an authorized guide, in small groups with life jackets, between 9am and 5pm. Snorkeling equipment is provided as an included resort activity, and turtles are present nearly year-round, with May through November the peak nesting season.
